How common is tinnitus?

According to research by the KNO (ENT), tinnitus occurs in about two million Dutch people. 10% of them suffer greatly from it and in tens of thousands the complaints are so severe that they cause psychosocial problems.

What are the causes of tinnitus?

Tinnitus can have multiple causes, such as:

  • Prolonged exposure to noise
  • Stress
  • Abnormalities of the hearing organ, brain or jaw joint
  • Side effect of another condition
  • Side effect of medication

Surely, prolonged exposure to noise is the culprit of tinnitus in most cases. Too much noise occurs in a variety of occupations. From construction to hospitals and even in education.

How do you prevent tinnitus?

Tinnitus, as described above, is caused in most cases by exposure to too much noise. So it is very important to avoid the effects of noise as much as possible.

Otoplastics

You can prevent noise trauma by using otoplastics, for example, to protect your ears. In this way, you protect your ears not only from tinnitus, but also from permanent hearing damage. Tinnitus caused by other conditions is difficult to prevent. Do you also suffer from prolonged exposure to noise at work? Then don't wait any longer and protect your ears with our custom-made earplugs.
