What is the difference between computer glasses, reading glasses and regular glasses?

Complaints can occur for people who spend a lot of time and intensively sitting at the computer. For example, reduced vision, tiredness, headache or neck pain, burning eyes, but also insomnia. Computer glasses (also known as monitor glasses) are intended to increase comfort when working at a screen and to prevent or minimize complaints. Just to be able to work. But what is the difference with reading glasses and 'normal' glasses?

Prescription computer glasses (monitor glasses)

We already knew that sitting at the computer a lot and intensively is not good for you. It can lead to all kinds of unpleasant symptoms such as poor vision, fatigue, headache or neck pain. That's where Seeh's computer glasses come in. Computer glasses or computer glasses offer the solution to complaints caused by office work. They offer your eyes the right support to work properly and for a long time, without leading to complaints. Because that's what you can expect from a great workplace.

Does the employer have to reimburse computer glasses? We are happy to explain it to you in our knowledge article about a boss's glasses.

Single lenses

Single lenses are used for static activities, such as work where a lot of reading and screen work is done at the same workplace. These glasses are mainly used by employees with an age of approximately 38 to 42 years.

Multifocal lenses

Combining multifocal lenses long distance strength with strength up close, without seeing it in the lenses. With multifocal lenses, you can easily switch between near, intermediate and far because the lenses have a natural gradient from plus to minus strength.
For multifocal computer glasses, you can choose between Workforce Nearview, Midview and Longview. These lenses have different strengths; for near, in between and far. The distances in the lenses are adjusted between 40 centimetres and a good view of up to 6 metres. This ensures that you can sit behind your screen in a natural position and can also do your other activities well. So everywhere, actually.

Computer glasses versus reading glasses

From the age of around 43, your eyes generally deteriorate. This often makes it more difficult to see clearly at a short distance. Reading glasses then offer a solution. Reading glasses are suitable for a reading distance of 30 to 35 centimeters, but a monitor is often at a distance of 50 to 60 centimeters, so you can still get complaints. Computer glasses are suitable for this. Perfect for anyone who works at a computer for long periods of time.

Difference between reading glasses, regular multifocal glasses and Hans Anders computer glasses

Multifocal computer glasses versus regular multifocal glasses

Multifocal glasses are a good choice for most everyday situations. However, multifocal glasses for work are only of limited value. This is because multifocal glasses have two optimal viewing areas. Part for near and part for far. The spacing viewing area is very narrow. While working at a computer, you also look at your screen through the lower part of the lenses. This allows you to lift your head to see everything properly. When you sit in this unnatural position for a long time, a lot of pressure is placed on your neck and shoulders.

Computer glasses then offer the solution for complaints that may arise from office work. Computer glasses are glasses that provide optimal vision when you work on the screen. The glass is specially made for comfortable viewing near, mid-far and far. This ensures that you see clearly and that you have a good working posture at the computer. This is in contrast to regular multifocal glasses and reading glasses, which allow you to take an incorrect position at the computer, which can then result in neck and shoulder problems, among other things.
