How do you ensure a comfortable (home) workplace?

What are screen glasses?

The name says it all: screen glasses provide a sharp view behind your computer, tablet or smartphone. Whichever strength you have, the special glass reduces the strain on your eyes and makes them less likely to tire. In addition, the monitor glasses ensure that you no longer sit in front of your screen in a tense position. In short, with screen glasses, you can increase your own work comfort while working from home or in the office and prevent or minimize annoying physical complaints.

Why are screen glasses important?

At the end of a working day, people close their laptops and computer screens go black. As employees get ready for the evening, chances are that many of them suffer from neck or back problems. Others experience irritated eyes or have trouble falling asleep because of the harmful blue light that emits from their screens.

But why is it so important to wear screen glasses? The answer is simple: it prevents employees from developing complaints while performing their work behind the screen. It ensures that employees feel good both during and after their working day. In addition, it contributes to maintaining high productivity within your company.

What does the Working Conditions Act say about screen glasses?

Under the Working Conditions Act, every employer is obliged to ensure that employees can do their work safely. Even working on a screen should not endanger someone's safety and health. To protect employees, a number of rules have been drawn up: before working at a computer or in the event of eye problems, employers must offer their employees the opportunity to undergo an eye exam. If it is found that screen glasses can help with the complaints, the employer is obliged to pay the costs for the monitor glasses to reimburse. By default, employees who wear reading glasses and work on the screen are entitled to screen glasses reimbursed by their employer.

Are the costs for screen glasses tax deductible?

To qualify for tax deductibility, the allowance must meet the conditions of the Work Costs Scheme (WKR).

• Under the work costs scheme, the value of screen glasses for payroll taxes is valued at zero. You are not allowed to ask for compensation from your employee.
• The monitor glasses must remain at the employee's workplace.
• Does the employee also use the screen glasses for private purposes? Then the glasses will only be issued untaxed if at least 90% of them are used for business purposes.

In order to be exempt from tax under the WKR, the fee for screen glasses must be regarded as a targeted exemption. If the monitor glasses meet the conditions of a targeted exemption, the allowance will not be considered as a salary in kind and the employee will not have to pay tax on this.
