What are otoplastics?

You may have come across otoplastics in your search for the right hearing protection. But what are otoplastics? Otoplastics are custom-made earplugs. These earplugs are measured in a Hans Anders store or (as of 5 persons) at your location. Otoplastics are personally fitted, which makes them very comfortable to wear. The otoplastics are fitted with a filter which provides the desired attenuation, e.g. during motorcycling or certain activities. A complete overview of our otoplastics can be found in the price list below.

Otoplastics for your employees

Otoplastics are custom-made, which is why they are considered the best option for hearing protection. Because they are personally fitted, they sit perfectly in your ear and are highly comfortable to wear. They seal your ear canal perfectly and are so small and beautiful that your ear canal is safely muffled. In addition, the material of the otoplastics is made of a solid mass so that they muffle more sound and can be better adjusted with a filter. Another big advantage is that otoplastics are more comfortable than earmuffs, for example, because they are often warm and more awkward to carry with you at all times. And an additional advantage when you wear glasses: you no longer have problems with the legs of your glasses jamming under your ear muffs.

Who are otoplastics for?

It's not just the most obvious occupational groups where they face a lot of hearing damage at work. In addition to jobs in (road) construction, transportation and industry, employees are also at risk of harmful sounds in other occupations, such as recreation and services and in commercial kitchens in institutions, hospitals, daycare centers and schools.

Who should reimburse otoplastics?

Reimbursement of otoplastics for work should be done entirely by the employer. This is in line with the ongoing commitment to hearing protection in high noise work environments. Although the occupational health and safety legislation undergoes few changes in 2024, there is an explicit increased focus on the implementation and financing of otoplastics. The regulations maintain existing noise standards: at noise levels of 80 dB(A), hearing protection must be available, and at 85 dB(A), its use is mandatory.

Are otoplastics mandatory?

Many workers are exposed to harmful noise levels on a daily basis. It is therefore not for nothing that hearing damage is one of the most frequently reported occupational diseases. Above 85 dB(A), employees and employers are not only required to provide compensation for hearing protection, but are also required to wear the equipment provided. This must also be monitored by the employer.

Annual inspection

With otoplastics, it is very important to check them annually. This is because your ear canal can change over the years. Checking ensures that the attenuation properties remain guaranteed. Seeh offers this aftercare, both in one of Hans Anders' stores and on location. You can also use your personal login in the order and management portal to see which employees have had their otoplastics serviced. This overview is always up to date. Would you like to have the checkup performed? Then simply create an order for the relevant employee(s). You can always have a leak test carried out in the interim if you have doubts as to whether the otoplastics offer sufficient attenuation (still). To keep an overview of the maintenance for the custom-made earplugs as easy as possible and to plan it well, we will automatically send you a reminder.

In the store or at your location

Download directly the necessary order form with which employees can have otoplastics measured or checked in-store. Your employee can then make an appointment at a nearby Hans Anders Hearing Care Professional. That is all you need to do to have hearing protection measured. Making an appointment is also very easy. This can be done online through Seeh's website, through Hans Anders' website or by calling 0800-0075. When your employee brings the order form to the Hans Anders store, the otoplastics will be fitted immediately.

Would you prefer to have the otoplastics fitted at your location or have them checked periodically? For this too, all you have to do is create an order form. We will then contact you to make an appointment for the fitting of the hearing protection. Starting from 5 sets per session it is possible to have otoplastics measured or checked at your location.
