We increasingly look at screens such as a computer, tablet, smartphone or television. These screens emit a high intensity blue light. This blue light is also naturally found in daylight and helps us to stay awake. If you look at screens frequently, this can feel uncomfortable in the long run and complaints can arise.
Burning or tired eyes, blurred vision and even insomnia are the adverse effects of too much blue light.
First, let's see what exactly blue light is. You can compare it to UV light; both types of light are part of natural daylight. In the picture below you can see what colors our daylight consists of. Each color has its own light intensity and, as you can see, blue light is almost as powerful as the purple light, which is also known as uv light.
With Bluefilter glasses, a special coating is processed on the lenses to block blue light. The glass with Bluefilter neutralises blue light and gives peace to your eyes. Thus, you protect your eyes from the adverse effects of your screen, making it easier to work relaxed behind your computer or other screen. And that's nice!
In addition, it is important to take good care of your eyes. Below are some tips.
1. Take breaks from your screen
Looking at a computer or smartphone all day causes dry eyes. When you look at a digital screen you blink your eyes less. That's why it's important to take regular breaks not looking at a screen.
2. Keep your distance from your screen
Depending on the size of your screen, an average distance of 60 - 100 cm is recommended.
3. Apply the 20-20-2 rule
To prevent eye problems, ophthalmologists recommend the 20-20-2 rule of thumb. The 20-20-2 rule means: after looking at a phone or tablet for 20 minutes, take a 20-second break looking into the distance. The 2 represents 2 hours a day outside.
